Israel Darling

Before I write this, let it be known that the internet tried to make me be productive. Whether or not it succeeded remains to be seen.

Dinosaur Bones and Mechanical Hands is an incredible album. Last year, it made number 15 on my list of favorite releases. It is a sincere and humble album. The singer’s voice croons in earnest over catchy folk instrumentation. I love this album.

Unfortunately, I tried to obtain it through the band, paying an extra $5 for shipping than anticipated. I paid for it back in May or June. I still don’t have it. I’m more than a little aupset about this, and I have several reasons. The first being that I wanted a physical copy of this album. There’s a certain intimacy about leafing through the cover art. I was also eager to support this band, as they’re not very well known, and their sound deserves attention. The third is that when I confronted them about this, they gave me the run-around, first telling me they couldn’t read my handwriting and sent it to the wrong address. In their defense, I had typed the wrong house number out in a message and didn’t correct it until much later. The last thing they said was that losing $15 to some bullshit was one of the better things that could happen to me. Then they claimed my address didn’t exist and I would have to go to a Fed Ex store to locate my address. I’ve since given up. I lied. I tried again. And they’re willing to fix this mess. Hopefully, I get the album. If not, I tried. Regardless, this whole experience has been a mess, and I’m probably mostly to blame. Herp derp.

I love the internet. And I love Dinosaur Bones and Mechanical Hands.

P.S. They’ve released a live album and made it available for free download. I still love their sound, in spite of everything. And now I know that the album is available on Amazon the next time I want a physical copy. Since I refuse to buy anything from iTunes, but that’s another topic entirely.
